Wendel Munck 1679-1762

Johann Wendel Munck was born 26 Jun1679 in Graben. He married Anna Margaretha Pfeil in 1701. She died in 1734 and in October of that year he married Christina Schmidt.   Wendel was a farmer and sponsor to many of his friends' children.  There was a Sheriff in Graben: 1632 Christoph Munk (Munckh)  Wendel died 11 March 1762. He was 82 years old and had had a fulfilling live with six children and two wives.

What happened to his children from the first wife Anna Margaretha Pfeil 1668-1734 and who he married 8 July 1701?
1. Anna Maria Munck 1702-1754 married Johann Wendel Weick 8 Feb 1724 and they had at least one child
2. Anna Margaretha Munck 1705-1748 married Johann Peter Kemm 13 May 1721 and they had 14 children.

What happened to his children with wife #2 Christina Schmid who he married 25 Oct 1734?
1. Wendel Munck 1735-1802 married Maria Barbara Pfeil 1734-1761 and had 2 children. It is unusual that a father and son marry two women with the same last name. Wendel Munch's second wife was Barbara Lind. They married sometime after Barbara Pfeil's death in 1761. See 1761 document below.
2. Margaretha Munck 1738 -8 Dec 1764, died single at 26 years
3. Christina Munck 1740-1743
4. Jacob Munck 1745-1745.

FYI: Do you recall that at one point I thought those odd numbers in the margins might have been references to the times when the persons were buried. Well, now looking at these on this page, I think these actually might be donations/payments for the funerals.

Robert Seal: For example, in the record you marked, the cost might be: 1 Thaler : 20 Pfennig = 1 Thaler and 20 Pfennig.
Yes, someone paid dearly for the funeral in entry 294.
The larger monetary unit was probably Thaler or Gulden rather than Mark. The smaller unit was probably Pfennig.
Very interesting indeed!

Comment: Given the strike-outs for the name and the age, the pastor must have been confusing Margaretha for a young woman named Christina.
Note: The pastor confused Margaretha Munck 1738-1764 with her younger sister Christina Munck 1740-1743.
