In the 1900 census Minnie, August's widowed sister moves in with him to help with kids and she brings three of her own children: Fred 14, Edward 12 and Catherine 9. In 1908, Christmas day, August surprises his sister Minnie by marrying Marie Fosberg on December 25, 1908 without any notice. The family were completely taken by surprise.
I have had this theory that August Weinert Jr. had something to do with the marriage of Emil Hornschuch and Emma Scholl. You know both August and Emil were ministers and lived within 30 to 40 miles of each other. As you know Emma was Emil's second wife. His first wife died in 1905. My theory is based on the photo below. I dated the photo by guessing at Franklin's age. In 1900 Emma was a maid or care giver in Falls City. Then in 1906 she is in Oregon and in 1911 she is married with a child. I have looked everywhere for Emil and Emma's marriage record. I woke up this morning about 2am thinking about Emma's marriage date so I got to work. The thing that really helps my theory is that Emil and Emma and August and Marie were married on the same day. August marries Marie Mathilda Fosberg (a Swedish born immigrant.) December 25, 1908. Marie loses two children in infancy. One in 1909 and the other in 1911. They keep trying and Eleanor is born in 1913 in Sweet Home, OR. Eleanor shows up in the 1920 census as a 7 year old girl and in the 1930 census as a boarder in San Francisco without an occupation listed and in the 1940 census with a husband and two children.
It appears that August was a minister in Seattle from 1998 to 1901 then in Tigardville, Oregon from 1901 to 1905. I don't know if that was his last assignment.
The story goes that he was without a church for a time and the leadership asked him to move and he said it would not be good for his family (or Minnie's) and he left the ministry.

(not related to Amelia as far as we know. 1898 – August Weinert became the pastor after Presiding Elder August Ernst withdrew and joined the Christian Catholic Church, whose founder was John Alexander Dowie. Many members went with him. The issue was divine healing. 1901 – The United Evangelical Church had a membership of 40, including children, when H. E. Hornschuch became the pastor. The congregation paid off a mortgage debt of $1,260 and installed a furnace for $180 and plumbing for $208.45. The membership grew slowly. 1901 Seattle City Directory, page 59:

In 1910 August was a salesman in a Portland furniture store called J Leah Furniture Company. According to family he and a partner owned the business but the enterprise fails after his partner took off with the money.
The 1910 census lists Franklin under Minnie not August and says he is a nephew. Minnie and August are living in different homes because August married Marie in 1908. I don’t think Franklin is August Weinert’s child at all. That would clear up the controversy about his birth after Amelia’s death. Who does he belong to?
Also in the 1910 census it is interesting that Minnie, a widow and head of household, with three children all in their early 20s, has taken in Laura Scholl and Franklin Winert while George chooses to live with his uncle August. How is Minnie staying afloat? Family members report that Minnie opened a boarding house. This is how she supported herself and children. They also said that the first time Minnie met Marie she felt it was the worst day of her life. It changed her life and put her in the workforce which was not friendly to women.
Frederick and Fanny are still in Nebraska in 1910 so George decides that Oregon has better opportunities over Falls City.
In 1920 August is a vegetable farmer in Brooks, Oregon. By 1930 August is a night watchman for a lumber company in Lebanon, Linn County, Oregon.

On September 22, 1932 August Jr dies from paralysis at 65 and is buried in Lebanon, Oregon. (family information) However according to his death certificate he dies of cerebral hemorrhage or stroke. It may be that the stroke caused a paralysis.
His death certificate notes he is a night watchman at Fir Lumber, in Labanon, Linn, OR. where he had been working for three years.
The death certificate incorrectly gives August's mother's birthplace as Germany; she was born in Holland.

Eleanor married Ray Noland Cather, had first son, Robert Ray (died as baby), then second son,August Edlbert Cather, (died in Navy leaving 2 sons), Doug and Bert. then my mother Dorothy Jean (Wilks) still living. I have more details, if you want. Someone on the Weinert side has done a lot of research, maybe you? I attended a couple of the Weinert Family reunions from the August line. Some where I have hard copies of that line going a few generations back.

booklet has 22 Mar 1867, Audrey has 25 Mar 1869, the church record has 25
Mar 1868 and his death certificate says March 25, 1866. They all agree: he was born in March.
Note on Franklin's birth: Franklin is born on June 18, 1900 or 18 days after the 1900 census. The only problem with this is that his mother died in January 14 of that year making it improbable that she gave birth six months after her own death.

Margie I information: I have a German - English
Dictionary (actually it's not a dictionary, but it has the translations of
words from English to German and German to English). March in German is Marz
with 2 dots over the "a". May in German is Mai. So, I think
this church baptism record has the German month which indicates he was born 25
March/Marz 1868. Well now we have 3 birth dates for August. Beth's
booklet has 22 Mar 1867, Audrey has 25 Mar 1869 and the church record has 25
Mar 1868. It wasn't like he was baptized within a year after he was born,
he was baptized in 1881 so he was about 13 years old. Did they forget
when he was born?
Looking for info on descendents of August Weinert, who was born 25 Mar 1866 in Richardson Co., NE and died 22 Sep 1932 in Lebanon, Linn Co., OR, age 65 years. August WEINERT married (1) Amelia C. ERNST abt 1893 in NE. She was born 18 July 1872, Falls City, Richardson Co., NE and died 13 Jan 1900 in Seattle, King Co., WA. They had 3 sons, Walter (b. abt 1894), Elmer (b. abt 1896), and Frank (b. abt 1899). August WEINERT married (2) Marik ---? who was still alive in 1932, as she was the informant on August's death certificate. I would like to find out more about Marik as well. Did August have any children with his 2nd wife? He was a "Rev." when he lived in Seattle, but was listed as a "nightwatchman" on his death cert. What happened?

My name is Scott Weinert. I am a
grandson of Frank Weinert. Frank married Edith Palmer and they had 4
children and 16 grandchildren. Their oldest child, Harry, is my father.
August did marry again and they had several children. Some of this
family still live in the Portland, OR/St Helens OR area. My father and
my aunt June Schoonover (Weinert) have more information on this.
It is my understanding that August's father was also named August and that he immigrated into Toronto, CA from Europe. 1 of the brothers stayed in Canada, while the other brothers immigrated to NE. It is also my understanding that 1 brother continued on to California and ending up in Australia. I have not been able to verify any of this brother's information...

understanding that his father, August, and 2 brothers came into Toronto
by ship in approximately 1835 and that they came from Poland. It is
also my understanding that they were a part of the German resettlement
of parts of Poland and Czechoslovakia during the Napoleanic period
(approximately 1800 - 1810)

Johann August Weinert in
South Australia was the son of Christian and Anna Weinert nee Kobe. He
was born in 1814 and married Johannes Donke in 1836.
In 1841 he travelled from Hamburg with his brothers Johann Dienegott and Treugott Johann to South Australia. With a few other families they began the township of Lobethal.
They never lived in Canada, however, This I know for a fact.
The Weinerts in Melbourne and Queensland are descended from this family and some if not all of the Sydney ones. I guess there have been other families come out over the years. There is still a strong Weinert presence in Lobethal, the town that they established.
I wonder what relation if any were the Canadian family. Our Weinerts came from Brucken Hausen in Posen (Prussia)- Wolstein province. Do you know where your Weinerts came from?

I am decendent from a Johann
Weinert who immigrated to the US and ended up in Ontario, Canada. I
have in my possession a letter that one of his brother's wrote to him
after a visit with another brother, August in Nebraska. It states that
this brother is thinking about moving to Australia in about the right
time frame as your inquiry. I will have to look up the brother's name,
if you are interested. When I visited Australia in 2002, I was delighted
to find Weinert's in phonebooks in Melbourne and Syndey, but did not
have the time to try and contact anyone. Please contact me if you are
