The Constitution of the United States of America

Is fascism right or left?

History of Democratic Party

Texas A&M great on Trump/diversity on campus, Antifa and morality

After Trump win, good on what Trump is like

Here's an even more detailed representation of THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY! ~ If a dude pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him. ~ Somehow it’s un-American and racist for the census to count how many Americans are in America. ~ Foreign interference in our elections is bad unless the Clinton campaign is paying for it, but illegal aliens voting in our elections is good. ~ Crowded, violent "protests" are encouraged, but singing in church is a public health violation. ~ Sexualizing children is bad, but 11-year-old drag queens are good. ~ Illegal aliens aren't required to show ID, but American citizens can't buy cough medicine without it. ~ People who have never owned slaves should pay reparations to people who have never been slaves. ~ Inflammatory rhetoric is outrageous, but harassing people in restaurants is virtuous. ~ People who couldn’t afford or choose not to attend college should be made to pay for everyone else’s. ~ Acknowledging gender is bad, but we have to have a woman for Joe Biden's V.P. running mate. ~ $5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care for illegal aliens is not. ~ If you cheat to get into college you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country you go to college for free. ~ Believing that ALL LIVES MATTER is racist, but #BlackLivesMatter is a celebrated movement. btw, Pointing out any or all this hypocrisy somehow makes you hateful or racist or xenophobic.......Vote Republican! imoto48

The Limits of Opprobrium and Stigma

When Abraham Lincoln was 33 years old, he gave a speech inside a Presbyterian church to a temperance society. His message: The assembled ought to be nicer to drinkers and sellers of alcohol, rather than shunning them, or denouncing them as moral pestilences. Indeed, they ought to use “kindly persuasion,” even if a man’s drunkenness had caused misery to his wife, or left his children hungry and naked with want.

For people are never less likely to change, to convert to new ways of thinking or acting, than when it means joining the ranks of their denouncers.

To expect otherwise, “to have expected them not to meet denunciation with denunciation ... and anathema with anathema, was to expect a reversal of human nature,” Lincoln explained. “If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend. Therein is a drop of honey that catches his heart, which, say what he will, is the great highroad to his reason, and when once gained, you will find but little trouble in convincing his judgment of the justice of your cause.”

However, Lincoln cautioned, dictate to a man’s judgment, command his action, or mark him to be despised, “and he will retreat within himself, close all the avenues to his head and his heart. And even though your cause be naked truth itself, transformed to the heaviest lance, harder than steel, and sharper than steel can be made, and though you throw it with more than Herculean force and precision, you shall be no more be able to pierce him, than to penetrate the hard shell of a tortoise with a rye straw.”

It was and remains extremely counterproductive for the left to treat Trump supporters as a “basket of deplorables,” especially given how tiny a percentage of his followers would need to be converted away from the president to reorient political power in Washington, D.C. For directing me to a Lincoln speech I’d never read before, I thank Andrew Sullivan, who quoted it to support the argument that “you will not arrest the reactionary momentum by ignoring it or dismissing it entirely as a function of bigotry or stupidity. You’ll only defuse it by appreciating its insights and co-opting its appeal.”

Fox news became the boogeyman for the Left simply because it covered news in a "fair and balanced" manner.
But the Left fails to recognize the difference between "fair and balanced" and "unbiased".
Every person and journalist has their personal biases.  CNN and other old-media outlets present their biased and one-sided views with a false pretense of being "unbiased".
On Fox there is certainly bias, but they also make sure to bring on the most prominent Liberal spokesmen for debate and discussion.
In this way, they are "fair and balanced".
But because both sides are heard, Leftist will hear things they don't like and never heard before on the propaganda media.  This angers them and makes them hate Fox News.

"There is a danger even more menacing than the threat of invasion by a foreign foe. It is the unpatriotic activities and underhanded scheming of disloyal groups and organizations within our own borders. This country is so situated geographically that there need be little fear of invasion by an outside enemy. Furthermore, the government, knowing who and where the enemy is, can make ample preparation to meet his attacks. But the secret, seditious scheming of an enemy within our own ranks hypocritically professing loyalty to the government, and at the same time plotting against it, is more difficult to deal with."
