Date: born on the 8th of October [1689] between 12 o'clock and 1 o'clock [no indication of am or pm] and baptized on the 12th of October [1689] in the local church at Graben by the pastor of Hochstetten because the pastor at Graben . . . [I can't decipher the remainder but it appears the local pastor was away for some reason and I see the word "Krieg" = war].
Child: Eva Margretha.
Parents: Jacob Metzger, wife Eva Catharina, née Zimmermännin.
Baptismal sponsors: Hans Endris Rösch and his wife; Martin Scholl, unmarried status; and maiden Anna Christina, the miller's daughter from Graben.
Ulrich Neitzel: The end of the sentence in the date column is: ...weilen Herr Pfarrer von Graben wegen des Kriegs nicht al[l]da wohnen können. = because the pastor of Graben cannot live/be there because of the war. "The war" was apparently the so-called "Nine Years' War" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_Years%27_War) between France and a coalition of European forces that led to a devastation of thousands of villages and towns in southwest Germany including the margraviate of Baden.
Pastor in Graben: from 1682-1690 Konrad Stadmann von Durlach. Durlach was chosen by the margrave Charles II in 1565 as residence of the rulers of Baden-Durlach, and retained this distinction though it was almost totally destroyed by the French in 1689. Pastor Stadmann served in Graben from March 1682 until 9 Aug 1690 when his handwriting ends. From 1691 up to his death in 1705 he was the deacon in Pforzheim.  After this because of gloomy times the service has been provided by the pastors of Spöck vicariando, named Zand and Lindemann, after which own pastors were set again.
Note: On 2 March 1689 Count of Tessé torched Heidelberg; on 8 March Montclar levelled Mannheim. Oppenheim and Worms were finally destroyed on 31 May, followed by Speyer on 1 June, and Bingen on 4 June. In all, French troops burnt over 20 substantial towns as well as numerous villages. (Speyer is 20 miles north of Graben.)

Johann Martin Scholl to Margaretha Weidmann 1st marriage 10 Nov 1696 film 102078348 page 185

Translation by Robert Seal:
On the 10th of November [1696], after holding a wedding sermon, were married Johann Martin, legitimate son of the late Johann Mattheiß Schollen, former lawyer, and Anna Margaretha, legitimate daughter of Johann Christoph Weÿdmann, lawyer.
Alternative translation moving the verb to the end:
On the 10th of November [1696], after holding a wedding sermon, Johann Martin, legitimate son of the late Johann Mattheiß Schollen, former lawyer, and Anna Margaretha, legitimate daughter of Johann Christoph Weÿdmann, lawyer, were married.
My comments: The first translation follows the word order in the record more closely. The second translation sounds "better" to our English ears.Which do you prefer?
Graben Pastor The Graben Pastor who performed the marriage of Johann Martin and Anna Margaretha Weidmann was Johann Alb. Obermüller. He served from 1703-1706.
Note: Note in this record it refers to Matthias Scholl b 1636.
Johann Jacob Scholl b 9 Apr 1701 widowed film 004137289 page 244
Translation by Robert Seal:
Saturday, the 9th of April [1701], a liitle boy was born and on the 10th [of April 1701] was baptized.
Parents: Martin Scholl and Margaretha, his wife.
Name [of the child]: Jacob.
Baptismal sponsors: Jacob Metzger and his wife. Hanß Georg Werner, the miller here, and his wife.
Notes: Jacob Metzger is the fifth child of Hans Reinhard Metzger. Hans Reinhard married Anna Dorothea about 1652. Jaob married Eva Catharina Zimmermann about 1685 and they had four children. Jacob was born 9 November 1663 and died 23 Sep 1729 in Graben.
My comment: I checked a 1701 calendar and 9 April did fall on a Saturday.
Margaretha Weidmann death 30 June 1704 film 4137289 page 402
Translation by Robert Seal:
On the 30th of June [1704] Anna Margaretha Weidmann, Martin Scholl's wife, died in childbirth, age 28 years, 8 months. 7 years, 8 months _____ 4 children: 2 alive, 2 dead, and the 5th died. 1 little son is still alive.
Clarification by Robert Seal:
You said that Anna Margaretha Weidmann died 3.5 months after the unnamed child was born and died on 16 March 1703. But Anna Margaretha died on 30 June 1704, so she died 1 year and 3.5 months after this child. The reason I asked about this couple's children is because her death record indicates that she actually had 5 children during this marriage which lasted 7 years, 7 months, and 20 days. It appears she died in childbirth giving birth to her fifth child.
Analysis: As written in the record the mother died from "Kinds nöthe[n] = Kindsnöten = labor pains. I have interpreted this as "childbirth" in my translation. And because she previously had given birth to four children, 2 alive and 2 dead, the phrase "den 5ten gestorben" (= the fifth died), it would seem that she died in childbirth giving birth to her fifth child, who also died.
If you enlarge the record, the phrase at the end of the second line, which at first glance appears to be "7 Jahr 1 Monat", looks to be "7 Jahr 8 Monat" (albeit a very thin "8") which might be referencing the length of the marriage of this couple which was 7 years, 7 months, and 20 days = 7 years, 8 months.
Robert Seal: Mr. G: Since it appears that two of the children were either born dead or died very soon after birth, be sure to search both birth/baptismal records and death/burials records for the period November 1696 to June 1704.
Johann Martin Scholl 2nd marriage to Anna Sabrina 26 Feb 1705
Translation by Robert Seal:
On the 26th of [ _____ 1705] Martin Scholl, council member and widower here, with Anna Sabina Wentzin, legitimate daughter of Jost Wentzen, council member here, [were married].
Question: No month appears in the record. What is your thinking on making the date 26 February 1705?
Comment: Note spelling of "Sabina" (no "r") in the record.
But without a month recorded in the record itself and with the record before being in the month of February and the record after being in the month of June, the marriage in your record could have taken place on 26 Feb, 26 Mar, 26 Apr, or 26 May. Note in the marriage records for the year 1706 on this same page that the scribe repeated the month of April for each record. So in your 1705 marriage record, did the scribe forget to write the month or did he mean that it also took place in February?

Child and birth/baptism: Anna Elisabetha, born 8 July [1707], baptized 9 July [1707].
Parents: Martin Scholl and wife Sabina.
Godparents: Friedrich Christoff Ziegler, butcher, with wife; Jacob Metzger with wife.
My comments: There is some Latin in the first column after the "8 Julÿ" which I am unable to decipher. Then it reads: "et sequentes 9 renata Anna Elisabetha" = and on the following [day] 9 [Julÿ] was baptized Anna Elisabetha.

Translation by Robert Seal:
67. On the 18th of August [1723], Hanß Martin Scholl died, juryman here and widower, who thereafter with the ringing of all bells, singing, and a funeral sermon was buried in the usual manner.
Note: the ringing of all bells is an honor, rarely used.
Translation by Robert Seal:
Right-hand margin: [record no.] 67. Hanß Martin "Schol."
On the 18th of August [1723] Hanß Martin Scholl, juryman here and widower, died, who thereafter, with ringing of all bells, singing, and a funeral sermon [with] customary measures, was buried. Age: 55 years, 5 months, and 10 days.
My comment: I hypothesize that it was at this point the pastor/priest found Hanß Georg's 1668 birth/baptismal record in the parish register and marked it with the + symbol. This is probably why his age at death was calculated perfectly from his birth date.
Translation by Annette Adams:
Hans Martin School, a widower, died the 18th of August, 1723. They rang all the bells, sang songs, and did a burial sermon, and he was buried the usual way. Hans Martin was 55 years old, 5 months, and 10 days.
