Thomas Gray 1817 - 1877

Birth:  Ferintosh Ross-shire Scotland (Black Isle) to Rodrick Gray and Anne Young
He had three brothers Rodrick, James and Alexander.

The Black Isle (Scottish Gaelic: an t-Eilean Dubh, pronounced [ən̪ˠtʲelan d̪̊uh]) is a peninsula within Ross and Cromarty, in the Scottish Highlands.
It includes the town of Cromarty, and such villages as Conon Bridge, Muir of Ord, Munlochy, Avoch, Rosemarkie, Fortrose, Tore, North Kessock, and Culbokie.

Note: it is interesting that Janet Stewart's father was a shoemaker and her husband was a boot maker.

Janet Stewart and her husband Thomas Gray are buried in the Toowong Cemetery with their grave markers removed or missing. When I went to Toowong Cemetery about 8 years ago, I spoke to the a chap working in the office who pulled out the file for the Gray family.

In 1975 they sent a letter to a Miss A Walker, Thomas & Janet eldest daughter, Margaret is married to a Walker so I am guessing that “A” is one of Margaret’s daughter or grand-daughters. Anyway BCC wrote to her about maintenance on the graves. When they hadn’t heard anything aftert 6 months, the council removed what was on the ground.

They are in sections 6,9, and 13 near the main gate. Thomas Gray has a park named after him. When was the park named in his honor? Sorry, don’t know and I haven’t been able to find out anything on the internet, but Thomas & Janet both bought land at Bald Hills at the first auction, long before John Stewart saw the land.  N.H. 2015
